We rely on the donations, memorials and bequests, trusts and other gifts from concerned
and caring individuals. We receive no state or federal funding. We are dependent on the generosity
of our supporters to allow us to sustain the high level of quality care and services currently
provided to homeless and needy animals.
Each contributor can elect to donate a gift in a way that best suits his or her personal
preference.
The Animal Welfare League will protect its donors' privacy and will not sell or distribute in
any way the donors' personal or contact information unless required by law.

Cash and other gifts
Cash is the most common form of giving. Contributors provide the yearly financial resources to operate
two animal care facilities. Some contributors may elect to give us stock, securities, real estate or
life insurance policies. More information on these types of donations may be obtained through the

Material Item Donations

We are always in need of newspapers! You can pull up out front of our Chicago Ridge location and
come inside for help. We'll gladly unload for you. Papers can also be left under the front awning
any time.

Our Thoughtful Place - Commerative Brick
|
The Animal Welfare League offers a way to remember a special pet or honor those who are committed
to the humane care and treatment of animals in need. "Our Thoughtful Place" is a garden located on
the grounds of the League’s Chicago Ridge shelter. It features a beautiful garden setting with a
patchwork of engraved bricks. The bricks are inscribed with names and messages chosen by people
who truly love animals. Help support the League by giving a lasting tribute to a loved one.

Matching Gifts
This method goes hand-in-hand with cash gifts. If your company is participating in a matching
gift program, your donation is matched to some percentage by your employer. More information
on these types of donations may be obtained through the development department.
Endowment / Trust
The interest earned from these major gifts (that can be named in honor of the donor) helps
secure the longevity of the Animal Welfare League.
Planned and Estate Gifts
Contributors can make life income arrangements and donate monies using trusts, gift annuities,
pooled income funds, etc. Individuals can choose to make provisions in their estates for the
support of the Animal Welfare League using a variety of gift vehicles. These gifts can provide
present and future program support for growth and organizational stability and can offer you
valuable tax advantages and income benefits.
Memorial Donations
Donations given to pay respect to the memory of a deceased pet, relative or friend who cared
about animals. $25 minimum.
Honorary Donations
Donations given to honor a pet or someone special while helping our homeless animals. $25 minimum.

What information we collect
The Animal Welfare League collects and uses various personal information from donors that includes: amount donated, address, telephone number, donor comments and e-mail address. Tax laws in the United States and the State of Illinois require the AWL to keep contact information and contribution level of donors on file.
How we use that information
The AWL will never publish, sell, trade, rent or share names (unless released for publication), e-mail or mail addresses, or telephone numbers of our donors. The AWL will use contact information (e-mail, telephone number and address) of donors for these purposes only:
- Distribute receipts for donations
- Thank donors for their donation
- Inform donors about upcoming fundraising and other activities of the AWL
- Internal analysis and record keeping
- Reporting to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)
- Contact donors about changes to this policy
However, properly anonymized donor information is used for promotional and fundraising activities. We allow donors the option to have their name publicly associated with their donation unless the donor explicitly chooses the "anonymous" field when donating online. In all other cases the default is for staff and volunteers to assume all donations are not to be publicly announced unless the donor explicitly indicates otherwise. Comments given in donor forms are published in public lists and may be used in promotional materials while comments sent to us via email, fax or telephone are kept strictly confidential.
Financial Information:
All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to professional staff who need to process those data. No such data are given to any person, organization or group who does not need to access those data.
The AWL only uses online payment processing services with world class security and strong reputations. The AWL does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.
